The fact is, I did propose the guys at Apache to join forces. In 1999 I have sent lots of tips to James Tauber, the original developer of FOP. But at that moment FOP didn't satisfy my technical needs, so I wrote my own library. When FOP became an Apache project, I wrote to Apache, but unfortunately they turned me down. I don't know why.
