I posted this earlier to the sourceforge message board, but it seems pretty
quiet over there... Anyway, I have a transparent PNG that sits on top of a
TIFF image. It displays wonderfully, but when I go to print, the
transparent image is no longer transparent. This is also the case with the
iTEXT tutorial that uses a transparent gif over text.

One solution I have found is the "Print as Image" option, but this turns a
14 MB print job into 300+ MB. This will cause problems in the application
deployment, so I would like to have a solution aroudn this.

I have looked for, but not been able to find, a way to take the PDF created
with iText and simply "flaten the layers". I have not been able to find
this. Does it exist?

Secondly, I have thought about simply merging the images before I place it
on the pdf, although I am not sure how to do this and how well (if at all)
it would work with transparent images.

Finally, if anyone has any ideas I have overlooked, I would love to hear
them.

Thanks,
SrlKlr
