Hi Bruno,
Thanks for the advise.  I later realized that I used parameter (0,64,64)
which is grey color for the Color() class .  Once I changed the
parameters to (0,0,0) which is black, the print out is dark enough.

What do they mean by this?

All text is black by default (#000000) and you can't make it 'more
black'. What can differ from printer to printer, is the appearance of
the characters. On one printer the characters can look bold in
comparison with the same characters (same document, same font,...)
printed on another printer.

I think there is very little to do about this.
