I'm not sure there's another solution, but you can
adjust nested tables width by changing the containing
cell's padding. Hope it's gonna help you :)

I have another question about nested tables : one day
I tried to have a very big nested table, which
couldn't fit on one page. Everything was fine when I
added it alone, but when I added as a nested table, it
couldn't appear because the containing cell was bigger
than one page and couldn't split. I found another way
to do what I wanted to, but now I wonder if it's
possible to fix that in I-text ? It might be useful
for other people...
