I use concat_pdf to concatenate PDF files but noticed the resulting file is smaller then the original file size. To prove this, I concatenate "a.pdf" to "nothing". The resulting PDF is smaller then "a.pdf". Depending on the files, the resulting file can be as small as half the original size. Are the methods used by concat_pdf reducing the content's quality? Is there a conversion? Or is is actually "improving" the content encoding?
