Title: RE: [iText-questions] Vertical alignment in table cells

I think it should be possible to salvage the (Table/Cell) classes, if only they were a bit more interoperable with the other classes in iText.

The largest common denominator would be the absolute position (x,y,w,h) (or (llx, lly, urx, ury) if you prefer). If only it were possible to retrieve these values from (Table/Cell), you could start out your document at a high level with (Table/Cell) -- which is a good thing (tm) -- , and once you hit limitations, you simply recover absolute positions and do any subsequent operations with the lower level APIs.

I understand that (Table/Cell) are also a front end to the html, rtf and other formats supported and that absolute positions are not always supported. So, returning absolute positions would only be right, if the backend is the pdf format. But then again, we're really talking about the lesser evil here. Potentially returning wrong absolute positions is several degrees less bad than the current dead-end strategy.

The most interesting and compelling solution would therefore be, to take away the fence that was purposely erected in iText to prevent access to the absolute positions (x,y,w,h) in Table/Cell.

There is no need to add anything; but really just to take things out.
