You need full Acrobat to sign a document, Reader is not
enough.

Hello,
I'm having some problem trying to sign a
signature form field in iText. I'm using the signature.java example file as is
and when I click on the signature field to sign it using a self signed
signature, I get the following error when saving the
file:
"The document could not be saved. There was a problem reading this
document (123)."
This is for Acrobat Reader 4.0
For Acrobat Reader 5.0.5, 5.1 and Adobe
Reader 6.0, Clicking on the signature field does not give me the option of
signing the field.
Do I need any additional plug-ins to make this
work or is it that the acroForm.addSignature() method not work at all? Thanks
for any help in this.
