Hello all,
last week, iText 1.1 was released. I also planned to rewrite the site and tutorial.
The site is now being generated from XML using XSLT. You can find the XML and XSL in the CVS repository: http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/itext/www/xml/lowagie/ When making a new release, I now only have to change the release number in the XSL and call an ANT task to rebuild all the new pages. When I want to add a FAQ question, I just have to fill in some XML tags. Etc... etc...
My vacation is finished and I will not have as much time as the past week to work on iText, but I already started making a new design for the tutorial. I will try to make a similar system that generates build.xml files for the examples automatically and that facilitates the generation of tutorial pages (maybe also a PDF version?).
As you can see, I have added a RefactorIT logo on each page of my site. If all goes well, iText will be added to the list of projects that allow you to use an Open Source Community License of RefactorIT ( http://www.refactorit.com/?id=5339 ) This means you should be able to work on the iText package + 50 external classes.
Give it a try as soon as iText figures on the list of Open Source projects. I used RefactorIT in my dayjob in combination with Oracle JDeveloper. It saved me a lot of time!
br, Bruno
