I know it sounds like a cheap answer, but couldn't you just use the .net
component and expose that as a com object? Or use java api from your C++ app to
expose it?

The reason I suggest these cheap but simple ones, is the direct C# port of
iText. With all of the classes of the .Net framework at their fingertips, they
are still behind in the development.

With the exception of startup times, java and C# apps are fast enough to not be
noticed by end users.

Anyways, just an idea.

I'm a C++ developper for 7 years.
I would like to offer some of my time to port iText in C++ .
What do you think of this idea.

If you decide to do this, I'll be happy to help where I
can. I've been wanting a C++ port of iText for a long time, but haven't
been able to devote full time to it :(. But I am happy to help where I can!

Hi ,

You are right indeed.

For immediate use, I will use the java api called from my C++ application. But porting to C++ was just "for fun" if I can say that.

Thanks anyway for your interest.

I think I will start up the port in C++ quite soon. Just the time to understand a bit the architecture of the Java version.

I'll keep the list posted if the project starts.

Stephane
