The problem is not the crypto stuff, I can do it with my eyes closed. The PDF reference explains everything in great detail but at the end of the day you'll have to generate something in Acrobat and reverse engineered it to make it work. The digsig code was a lot of work not because the crypto is difficult but because everything must be reverse engineered to work. I don't know if I have the patience to go all over it again for the certifying.
