Depends on how good you are with calling C from Java (and vice versa). It's not rocket science, but there's a LOT of stuff there to emulate and get correct.


2) Bundle with iText?
        Impossible due to the licensing dichotomy between iText's and GS's.


The PDF stuff in itext is expressive and powerful enough that I don't
see a point in making another class tree ala RTF to do PS when we could
just build a PDF in memory and then convert to PS on the fly.
Point well taken - but I don't know of any non-commercial solutions for this.

Commercially, there are some including the already mentioned PSServices.
