Standard: the complete PDF is downloaded before anything can be seen (the XRef table that holds all the references to the page- and other objects is at the end of the file). With Linearization: the first pages in the PDF can be shown before the PDF is completely downloaded (Linearization is not supported in iText)
Eventually the PDF is completely downloaded if the user doesn't disconnect.
