It's a prepress issue. We are working for publishing houses and have to work up a lot of different PDF. One of our jobs is to make a check sample print of new books. We get composite Image-PDF with the color images and Text-PDF as separated PDF (every page is a separation plate like "textcolor"). We are using SignaStation from Heidelberg to merge the two PDF to a printout with our digital press (hp-indigo). The separated "textcolor" pages have to print in black. Now the problem comes. The new PrinectSignaStation (1.5) does not allow the output of combined separated and composite PDF in PDF or Postscript mode. It only works in Jobticket-Workflow. But for our hp-indigo-RIP we need to do a PS or PDF output. To solve this problem I want to remove the SeparationInfo from the Text-PDF and get a Composite-PDF with black pages. We have discussed the problem with the publishing houses to instruct their typesetter to create only composite PDF. But it is not easy to break up a long working process ... After some help from Paulo (see some posts below) I programmed a small Application to remove SeparationInfo because I didn't find a tool that has this function. Today I will test it with our PDF files...
