It won't work. You'll need to convert the content string to some visible
representation and set another exclusion range. The problem is that the
standard Acrobat signature handlers don't like to see more than 2 exclusion
ranges.

Subject: RE: [iText-questions] Effect of moving the signature value
I never saw a signature without a direct content but there's
nothing in
the specs to say it won't work. If it does really work or not I don't
know. iText can't produce this kind of indirect signature without some
programming.
Okay, I have moved the signature content value into an extra object, set a
reference from the signature dictionary and adapted the byte range
accordingly - you would not want to see how bad I raped your source code
;)
Anyway, the validation of the signature still works fine (at least with
Adobe Reader).
Now I "only" have to find a way to make this signature hex string visible
in
the document.
If I don't find one, I'll be back ;)
Thanks for your help,
Stefan
