Hi all,
I'm working on a project that requires a web-based PDF editing facility.
The idea is that you can use your web browser to compose a document
which will look similar in PDF format.
We already started playing around with the idea of using something like
the FCKeditor (www.fckeditor.net) to produce an HTML document which we
then convert to PDF using iText. The obvious problem is getting the PDF
to look anything like the original HTML document.
We thought about contributing towards the existing SAXmy*Html*Handler in
iText to handle the HTML produced by FCKeditor. We're also considering
making modifications to the editor in order to produce more 'friendly'
HTML (i.e. not produce any markup which is not supported by iText). The
idea is that the 2 projects could meet somewhere in the middle and allow
for a reliable web-based PDF editing facility.
If there is anyone else interested in contributing to such a solution we
could create a project on sourceforge and turn this effort into a
public one.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Regards
