Its not a problem with IText but rather with the Birt reporting engines replacement for the IText Font Factory. Birt is a open source reporting tool on Eclipse which utilizes the Birt API for PDF generation. Birt PDF wrapper replaces the Font Factory, and it looks like it has bugs. Sorry for the missed diagnosis.

A wild guess: the PDF document opens and you see a blank page.
Adobe Reader doesn't mention anything about missing content.
If you open the PDF in a text editor you see a lot of question marks.
If this is the case, every program did its work as expected, but your
OS thought it was making an ASCII file instead of a binary file.
