Bruno,

I have to read up on ColumnText. But as it turns out a downgrade from iText 1.4 to 1.3 also solves the problem. Other problems seem to be introduced with 1.4 as well:

1. A table without body but with a header was not printed. With 1.3 I get the table header again.

2. In one case the footer (via HeaderFooter) on one of the unwanted blank pages somehow printed _above_ the header of the following page, the result being totally unreadable. Also solved with 1.3.

I see.
There have been some very pervasive changes in the way a Table
is rendered. These changes were contributed by somebody else.
I have tested them on a set of examples and as the result was fine
for me, I committed them.
Now I see you have found some side-effects when a Table is
used in a HeaderFooter object. If I had some short standalone
examples I could try and debug this, but I can't guarantee anything
as both HeaderFooter and Table are classes from the past. We
don't really plan to spend a lot of time on them anymore.
br,
Bruno
