lpr is part of itext. It has the advantage of providing fine grained
control of the printer parameters on suitable printers.

no, iText is a library to produce, parse and manipulate PDF documents.

depending on your OS, this might work:
% lpr thedocument.pdf
but you need to be more specific about your environment.
