Hi Bea,
First, you need to configure the geometry of your column :
t.setSimpleColumn(left, bottom, top, right);
Then add your content using t.addElement(). When you're done adding 
content to it, call t.go() to render the content. The return code from 
this method tells you whether everything could fit in the space you 
assigned to the column or not. More informations here :
