I am generating invoices for students the same way.
Student can enroll at Ghent University in different ways:
- full time / half time / part time / separate courses / ...
- graduate / undergraduate / PHD / ...
- local student / foreign student / ...
- with a study grant / without a grant
- first time subscribers / ...
I have made one large XML with all the possible clauses;
then I read records from the student database to see which
clauses apply for every student (sometimes combinations are
necessary).
There are different placeholders in these clauses that are
replaced with the name of the student, the amount that has
to be paid, the date we expect them to pay, and so forth.
I use iText to create the PDF based on the XML and the
database info more or less as described in the examples of
chapter 14 of the book "iText in Action".
best regards,
Bruno
