I'm not sure but if i remember correctly, old versions of Pdf standard
supported "postscript xobject" or something like that. The idea is to inject
small pieces of postscript code in a pdf file. The postscript code will be
ignored by all non PS device but executed by PS device.
That features was deprecated in newer versions (from 1.4 ?). And I don't
know if it is/was supported by any printers.
I don't know if iText supports it. (Bruno, help, does iText support it?)
As I wrote in a previous email, there are also some solutions but are
closely related to particular manufacturer/printer. But this is OffTopic in
this mailing list.
