The book advises to extend the class PdfPageEventHelper, because that is easier than implementing the page event interface. If your class already extends another class, nothing prevents you to implement an interface. But that's not even necessary. If you want to use a page event in a class that already extends another class, just create a second class that extend the page event helper class.
