        Although a single XFA stream is valid, Acrobat MUCH prefers the  
multiple stream/array model as that enables us to do easier updating  
of JUST the data block with out having to rewrite all the other parts  
as well.

        If you need a flattened version, you would be better served in  
investing in developing an "XFA layout engine" - aka an XFA->PDF  
converter, much as LiveCycle Forms does.  You have to do pretty much  
all of the same work as creating the parallel form fields BUT you'll  
get a much smaller PDF with less work.

        First, there is no "level 0" for PDF/A - so not sure what you mean  
here.

        Second, PDF/A FULLY SUPPORTS form fields.  This is a common  
misconception.

        Third, if you follow my advice above - you'll get what you want in  
the long run.
