I currently haven't got time to work on this myself, so feel free to make it 
work for you :-).

Unfortunately I haven't looked at how this would work in RTF, so you'll have 
to look at the RTF specification 
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa140277(office.10).aspx yourself. 
The classes you probably want to modify are the RtfList.java and 
RtfListItem.java classes in the com.lowagie.text.rtf.list package.

Any questions you have regarding the inner workings of the RTF generation, 
feel free to ask, but on the specific issue, I can't help much.
