Nick - thanks! That's a great idea! I'll try it and let you know how it
works.

Hi,
I'm very new to iText so probably missing the point completely but
maybe this FAQ could point to another fall back position.

Could you do something like this to blank out the image or replace
with a blank image?
regards
Nick

*Subject:* Re: [iText-questions] turn background printing on/off
well... I need to do this programmatically (on lots of documents,
server side).
The original documents will have an image in the background layer.
Versions of each document will be sent from the server to either laser
printers where the entire document will be printed (including the
background) or to dox matrix printers to print on multi-part
pre-printed forms. In the second case, I need to either remove the
image from the document before printing or flip the 'background
printing' bit. This will all be automated, so the printing options
need to be completely specified in the document itself.
Can iText locate and delete a background layer from a PDF? Or can I
manipulate the printing status of an existing layer?
Another option I thought of could be to create an entirely new PDF
using the form field locations and properties from the original
document. This will be tricky, as there are lots of formatting options
that have been put into the original (font sizes, colors, etc...) that
would need to be copied. This isn't my favorite way to go, but is my
backup if nothing else works.
Thanks,
Carl

I want to be able to produce a version of this
document where the image doesn't print.
I think the best solution would be to create the template
that way. Add the image to an OCG that doesn't print in
Acrobat.
