Hi iText users,

quick memory consumption question/problem when reading a large TIFF
image using Image.getInstance(String)

The TIFF is 217M and uncrompressed, I wrote a small test program that
simply constructs the iText image instance. After the image has been
read the heap space usage jumped to an enormous 776MB (figures are from
JConsole)

As a comparison, when I read the same image using ImageIO Tools, the
heap space only grows by pretty much the size of the TIFF.

1. Why does iText require so much more heap space for the same image?

2. Is there a way I can reduce the required heap space when generating
PDFs with several large TIFF images?

Looking forward for any suggestions!

Thanks,
Leander
