That is correct. > If > the compiled classes that comprise ScaleAndTile3 were added to an > unsigned iText jar for easier distribution, would those new compiled > classes then be bound to the iText license? Your opinion? The license is about the *.java and *.class files. How you jar them is IMO not subject to the license as long as you don't remove the copyright notices and maybe add an extra notice about the files that are added. Otherwise people may have the impression that the added class files are available under the same license; especially if you call the jar iText.jar; that would probably be confusing. > While the inspiration for some parts of ScaleAndTile3 came from the > iText Toolbox, there is no tool like it in the iText Toolbox. I will reactivate the project as soon as I get the word from SUN about more tools that combine PDF Renderer and iText. I think those projects would fit perfectly together in the toolbox. As for ScaleAndTile3: the license of the toolbox was changed into the MIT license which is less strict than the iText license. There is no license problem with ScaleAndTile3. Actually I was very happy with the Rotary initiative. It's in line with my own 'convictions'. (I quote the word 'convictions' because it's a word I have from a dictionary; it sounds like a heavy word, I was looking for a translation for the Dutch word 'overtuiging'; it's about what you believe in, but not in a religous sense.) br, Bruno ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges.
