1T3XT info,
You know what, I tried to be professional and courteous in regards to our
email exchanges. I am new to iText, and I am new to the concept of a mailing
list. All I wanted to do is determine a method of outputting rich text to a PDF
document. I've got a very limited amount of time to come up with a solution and
I thought that this place would be helpful. Apparently, that was yet another
thing that I was "very, very wrong" about.
So to hell with the niceties. If I wanted to hear an a**hole, I'd fart. Your
son having cancer is no excuse for being a dick. However, I have found a much
easier solution that does not involve iText at all. In fact, there are many PDF
APIs out there that are much better and easier to work with. I'll make damn
sure not to promote iText in any forums regarding PDF creation and manipulation
in the future. Way to go, champ.
Sincerely,
Former iText User

Damn,
I've spent 12 hours straight in the hospital with my son
(who has cancer; if there are still people who didn't
know this, they must have been on another planet in the
last 2 months); I have barely slept and now I've sent
a mail to the bounce address instead of to

The morale of all this remains:
1. don't harass people personally,
2. especially not with questions that demonstrate
the fact that you haven't done your homework.
3. if you did your homework, fire the teacher who
told you to use setLiteral()
