I would look at tools such as PdfBox or JPEDAL, as you will need to  
be able to render arbitrary PDF content into a raster image (if that  
is what you want).

Adobe Acrobat adds additional UI elements (like the green checkmark)  
to a signature's appearance - and that is specific to Acrobat.

Can you explain some more about WHY you are doing this?
