I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I just checked the archives in CVS: http://itext.cvs.sourceforge.net/itext/src/com/lowagie/text/pdf/ColumnText.java?revision=1.32&view=markup Adding objects such as PdfPTable wasn't possible back then.
