Subject:
[iText-questions] Converting RowSpan to Nested Tables Question (AGAIN)

Hello,

I tried posting this previously on both the iText and iTextSharp mailing
lists, but have not gotten a response. I really need to understand how
nested tables can be used in certain situations as a replacement for
RowSpan, which is not supported for PdfPTable. Please see the following
simple HTML example which I need to replicate using PdfPTable:

<table border="2">
    <tr>
        <td rowspan="2">1</td>
        <td>2</td>
        <td>3</td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
        <td rowspan="2">4</td>
        <td>5</td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
        <td>6</td>
        <td>7</td>
    </tr>
</table>

On a more general level, was there a reason why RowSpan was not
implemented in PdfPTable? It was a very valuable option in the older
Table class and I find that trying to do the same thing with nested tables
unintuitive and overly complex. Has anyone come up with a general
algorithm that can be used to convert RowSpan to nested tables?

Thank you

- Stew
