I’ve solved this problem myself. It was my stupidity. It turns
out that I messed up the format of
the xml file. Specifically, I mistakenly messed up the Page attribute. Anyway,
I apologize for my stupidity.

Hi, everyone,
I’m a newbie of iText and now I need to add bookmarks to an
existing PDF file which is created
By PDFCreator 0.9.1, an open source PDF Printer. The version of the created
file is PDF 1.3 and I’m having
this strange problem. That is, when I use the setOutlines method of the
PdfStamper class, the bookmarks
are added indeed but no actions at all.When you click the bookmarks, nothing
happens.
First, I thought it could be the problem of my code so I used the sample code
to add bookmarks to
the very file, same thing happened. Then I thought might have some problems
with the file. Thus, I used
acrobat to add bookmarks, it worked fine. I also checked the cross reference
table, it was there.
Now, I’m doomed by this problem. I even tried PdfCopy, but again, made no
difference.
I hardly have any clue of this problem. This is the last part
of my current task and it’s very urgent. Can
anyone help me? If you need the file to diagnose this problem, I shall be happy
to send you a copy.
