Exactly, so just recompiling flying saucer would just do it (I'm doing it for
my own needs).

My question was more about asking an 'official' release.

Should I ask iText team to restore the old methods ou should I ask flying
saucer team for a release compiled with iText 2.1.2+ ?

BTW thanks very much for your answer

None of the above: "it's still source compatible though so anybody
needing/wanting to use iText 2.1.2+ will just need to recompile FS
for themselves."

In other words: it's sufficient to recompile Flying Saucer; no code
changes are needed.
