After applying the change Paulo suggested Adobe Reader 8 displays two truetypefonts in both cases (out.pdf, out2.pdf). Without the change Reader only finds 1 (truetype subsetted) font in the case of identical names (out2.pdf).
More interesting than to find bugs in different versions of reader or acrobat seems to me the question if the files generated by my sample programm are in every way valid and if applications or printers failing to process them are right or wrong..
