I've narrowed down the issue a little more. When I remove the following lines of code, the duplexMode is retained.
pdfStamper.addViewerPreference(PdfName.HIDETOOLBAR, pdfBoolean); pdfStamper.addViewerPreference(PdfName.FITWINDOW, pdfBoolean); It seems adding additional viewer preferences overwrites the original preferences. I am not attaching the before and after pdf's. The after pdf has confidential information.
