Correct. The change from com.lowagie to com.itextpdf can be achieved 
without too much pain. Moving from Table to PdfPTable demands some 
testing to make sure everything looks the way it should.

I don't think it's a good idea to work with the old version,
especially not with the Table class: you'll get no support
whatsoever when something doesn't work as expected.

Are you sure you are talking about iText?
Or were you producing CSV instead of XLS?
You don't need a library to create CVS.
