Hi,
I plan to use iText-5.x instead of earlier versions.
Thanks for your update. Unfortunately i dont have 2nd edition of "iText in
action" to refer.
As you quoted that "Chapter 3 gives you one possible reason (you added the
image
UNDER existing content", Is there any example available in the site as per my
requirement . From Chapter3, ImageDirect.java, i observed that printwriter is
used to print in new document.
writer.getDirectContent().addImage(img);
But my case is to modify the existing pdf. I have to use reader and stamper to
do that. Any suggestions are advisable.
Could you quote ,which example in chapter 15 is used to extract the positions
in
the pdf file.
Regards,
Surya

There can be different reasons for that.
Did you read the second edition of "iText in Action"?
Chapter 3 gives you one possible reason (you added the image UNDER
existing content); chapter 5 gives you another one (you added the image
outside the visible area of the page).

Extracting images is explained in chapter 15.
You get the X,Y coordinates, so you can check if the image is
outside the visible area, but AFAIK you don't get the Z-order,
so you can't tell if the image is overlapping with other content.

See above.

You can extract some images (not all!) with iText 5.x.y.

You should add them correctly right from the start.
You shouldn't do a bad job first and then make corrections.

Ouch, forget everything above: we don't support that version here.
