Frankly speaking I have no idea what the Signature object in java security package is good for, always preferred to use higher level packages like Bouncy Castle. As you can see from the javadoc the method 'sign' : The format of the signature depends on the underlying signature scheme Maybe this method returns the just the signed bytes of the hash, maybe some sort of higher level structure ... the length of 131 bytes is obviously irritating.
