That's on our road map, but we have a lot of work for customers too and cannot spend all day on xmlworker & itext ( I wish we could :) )

I tried user "Flying Saucer" for parse html to pdf and backgroundcolor in
tag span works well, but it loses when you try applies text justify and with
backgroundcolor somewhere in the text.

The tool xmlworker is good, I believe it will be better
