I will point out that you should be able to use the existing iText library to
generate PDF/VT compliant files – you simply need to use the low level APIs to
write data structures yourself.

Subject: [iText-questions] iText: Which plans to add support for PDF/VT?

I'm sure some of you have heard about PDF/VT, the new ISO standard 16612-2. (V
here is for variable data printing and T is for transactional/transpromo
printing).

PDF/VT adds some extensions to PDF/X in order to make (producing,) printing and
processing of "mass" PDF documents more easy. AFAIU, the main additions added
to PDF/X are these:

 1. more metadata on different levels of the document (which, for example,
would allow easier identification of pages and page groups going to the same
receiver for optimizing packaging + postage fees)
 2. "encapsulation" of XObjecst (which would allow printer RIPs to increase
performance by caching their rendered representation for later re-use on other
pages of the same or even a future printrun)

PDF/VT documents require to remain valid PDF/X documents even after adding the
2 extensions named above, thusly retaining full support for all the features
that high quality print output may need (transparency, ICC profiles, spot
colors).

My question is: What are the known plans and intentions for the iText
development roadmap as far as support for the new PDF/VT features is concerned?
(BTW, I tried to find info about iText development plans on
www.itext.com/*<http://www.itext.com/*> but failed to locate any.)

Thanks in advance for any responses providing some info.

All of the data generated in your IT infrastructure is seriously valuable.
Why? It contains a definitive record of application performance, security
threats, fraudulent activity, and more. Splunk takes this data and makes
sense of it. IT sense. And common sense.
