oooh! I like the flogging idea ;-) seriously, though - if the OP sends me a patch, I'll review it and get it incorporated. Or we can wait until I run into the problem on our production systems, then I'll take a look at it. What I'm not interested in doing is spending a lot of my time trying to do a blind patch for a malformed PDF that I don't even have a copy of.
I guess while we are at it: OP - when you send the patch, also send a SMALL sample PDF file (one page, please) that demonstrates the issue. If you include a small unit test, it'll make things go much faster.
