this is: a) an excellent catch of a corner case that hadn't been previously considered b) an absolutely fantastic description of the problem - both at the low technical level, as well as "and here's what's special about the PDF that I'm working with that causes this corner case" c) a very nice, simple patch that can be applied with low risk and almost no effort on our part
