Thanks for the feedback Bruno.

Boy this stuff is complicated :(

I must confess, I didn't have a clue what a Descendant font was after
reading your reply. However....

Since your email I have looked more deeply at our actual file (you may
recall this is still under embargo so I am using several small test files -
the one not including the FontFile is one of these test files). Using Rups
I can clearly see our actual file contains Descendant fonts (in particular:
Wingdings 3). Using the listing 16.3 page 530) these are identified as
'nofontdescriptor' I believe this is because the Font dictionary containing
the FontFile2 is preceded by a DescendantFonts dictionary. If this is always
true I can easily modify listing to correctly identify - perhaps someone
could confirm if my understanding is correct?

However, I can now confirm that in the test file (attached to previous
posting) the font I am questioning (CourierNewPSMT) is not a Descendant font
- well, it certainly does not appear to be identified as one in Rups.

Kind regards
William

Maybe it's a composite font with the font descriptor in a descendant font.
I don't think that's covered in the example.
However: inspecting the file with RUPS would easily reveal these cases.
