ok - both of these fixes are now committed.  I am absolutely thrilled to have
gotten this feedback.

I opted to fix the baseline computation the way you recommended (I split the
code out to make it a bit more readable) - thank you so much for the
recommendation, and the comment on the dependency into the content parser.

The fact that my unit test didn't fail when I made the fixes tells me that
my unit tests aren't providing good code coverage - if anyone has some tests
that we can include, please let me know.
