I don't know if this mailing list is the right place to file a bug report, but
I couldn't find anything else on the iText web site.

On some large, valid pdf 1.5 files output by pdftex 1.40.13, iText throws a
"trailer not found" exception. An example is here:
http://www.lightandmatter.com/pdftk_bug/me.pdf . Unfortunately I was unable to
cut this down to a smaller example. The file is valid PDF according to Adobe
Acrobat X Preflight: http://tex.stackexchange.com/a/95986/6853 . Inspection in
a text editor seems to confirm that there's nothing wrong with the trailer.
There is some discussion here about how the file was produced:
http://tex.stackexchange.com/q/95973/6853 .

This is all on linux (ubuntu 12.10) with iText 1.4 (I assume, based on the
filename):

$ java -cp /usr/share/java/itext1-1.4.jar com.lowagie.tools.plugins.InspectPDF
me.pdf
trailer not found.

I don't know whether this problem is also present in more recent versions of
iText, which don't seem to have been packaged for my system.
