What application are you using to view the pdf?  The viewer now built into 
Firefox seems to have problems with images in encrypted documents - while 
Acrobat (and other viewers) have no such problems. 

I create documents with png images, rather than gif. When I changed the 
images from 8-bit to 24-bit colour the Firefox viewer displayed the images 
correctly. This may also work with gif images.

Also: it's not because you're in Belgium that the rest of the world knows:
1. which gif you're adding,
2. how you're adding it,
3. what goes wrong.

In short: how can you expect that anyone will look at your problem if you 
don't provide a http://sscce.org/ ?
