I did another test, this time without any of my own code. I compiled tray.c from Antonio's email in a fresh Debian 10 installation with the Cinnamon desktop, the results were not good, still no tray icon :(
I am attaching a screenshot... I think the only thing left to do to get to the bottom of this is to use a debugger to see what IUP is doing behind the hood.
