After trying out a lot of things I think there is a bug in the
iupmatrix code when merged cells exist. The problem is if lines are added
so that the new lines end up in a place where previously there were some
merges then things get messed up and we see black cells.
Same thing happens with movelin and dellin commands. I think the code
for these commands does not adjust the merge properties accordingly.
Another observation is that if you add a line 1 at a time or delete a
line 1 at a time then things work fine.
Please let me know if I can help replicate it at your end. The lua
script I sent in another mail can replicate it.
