Howdy Alex,
We hadn't initially planned to do a new release, especially since we
didn't get any feedback on the mailing list. However, you can always
submit a request and we will evaluate it as a new package. Since git
only supports the latest version, we would probably only consider a
package tied to 2.x.x. (git2u) as opposed to our traditional 2.1.x style
(git21u).
