-Ben [0] https://lists.launchpad.net/ius-community/msg01635.html [1] https://github.com/iuscommunity/wishlist ** Changed in: ius Status: New => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of IUS Core Development, which is subscribed to IUS Community Project. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/612659 Title: WL: gtk 2.14 Status in IUS Community Project: Won't Fix Bug description: DESCRIPTION: GTK2 is the primary GUI toolkit for Gnome-based applications REASON: I was trying to compile up some various applications this weekend on Centos 5.5 only to find that GTK2.12 or greater is required. Centos 5 only has gtk2.10 which is very old. There are more and more applications that are making GTK >= 2.14 a hard requirement (GnuCash, etc.) and as such, they are officially dropping support for RHEL5/Centos5. There are even long standing Redhat feature requests for this: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=558788 I can add additional examples of projects dropping support because of this if you wish. I made a similar request to the elrepo group but they felt this request goes against their charter and would better served by the IUS group: http://lists.elrepo.org/pipermail/elrepo- devel/2010-July/000263.html To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ius/+bug/612659/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ius-coredev Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ius-coredev More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
